Giant Anteater Takes a Bath

Giant Anteaters bathe regularly but the male anteater Beata is especially fastidious about keeping himself clean. He sometimes spends just a few minutes in the pool but other days, he'll bathe for up to 15 minutes. He uses his front claws like a scrub brush and will scrub all over including his arm pits, head and sides. He also uses his back feet to scratch and scrub like you would see a house cat or dog do. Here is a great series of anteater bath photos captured by zoo staffer Mike Owyang.
