The Sumatran Tiger cub CJ is growing strong! He is now in his sixth week and all his upper and lower incisors have erupted as well as the four canines. He weighed in at 12 lbs and is starting to walk with his feet under him some of the time.
You can see his progress in the video below along with more loud vocalizing, playing with mom and footage from inside their nest box.
CJ is short for Castro Jr. and he was named after his father. His birth is very important to this critically endangered species. Currently less than 500 Sumatran Tigers survive in the wild.
The tiger cub and mom are off exhibit while he grows and gains strength. They will both be on exhibit in late May or early June.
